Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia
With just under six million speakers, Croatian belongs to the South Slavic language family, most of whose speakers reside in the Balkans and southern Europe. It may seem unusual to include one of the smaller languages of Europe here on our website, but we have worked with the language for over a decade, always having a good collaboration with our linguists in Croatia.
Croatian, like the majority of European languages, uses the Latin alphabet, with diacritics added for other pronunciations. It is official in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia, and is a recognized minority language in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Montenegro, Austria, Hungary, Romania, and Italy. As such it is quite international in scope in southeast Europe.
Croatian distinguishes itself from the closely related Serbian language through its so-called Ijekavian pronunciation and the exclusive use of the Latin alphabet. Serbian employs two writing systems equally, one based on the Latin alphabet and one on Cyrillic.
Spectrum Translation has worked with Croatian since 2006. We have translated and localized Croatian for publishing, education, medical, and business purposes.
We welcome your queries regarding successful translation, proofreading, and editing in this important language of southeast Europe.
